Thesis/Dissertation Signatures
Students graduating in fall 2009 must submit their thesis/dissertation to the library by December 11th at 5:00 pm.
Registering for 998 or 999
Students who plan to take CTCH 998 in fall 2009 must register with their dissertation proposal advisers--not with HEP. If you have not told us who your dissertation advisor is, please email our office at hepadmin@gmu.edu ASAP. We will provide your advisor with the CRN code, and you will be responsible for contacting your advisor to obtain the code and registering for the course.
The policy for registering for CTCH 999 has not changed. Students registering for CTCH 999 (Dissertation Writing) must contact the Graduate Academic Affairs Office for the registration code. Please see the Instructions for Requesting 999 Registration Code if you have any questions.

Job Opening: Outreach Coordinator
The Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP) is a Washington, DC-based non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to foster access and success in postsecondary education through public policy research and programmatic activities that inform and influence policy and practice. IHEP serves as a resource for government agencies, higher education organizations, philanthropic foundations, and others committed to increasing access and success in postsecondary education.
The Outreach Coordinator will support the organization’s outreach and communications activities and will provide support to policy and programmatic efforts. Position requires an individual who can successfully balance multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail. This position provides exposure to a number of critical areas of IHEP work and offers unique cross-project coordination and understanding. The position reports to the Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives.
Primary responsibilities include:
Assist the Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives with various activities, including support for the Pathways to College Network, strategic planning, and policy initiatives.
Work with staff on communications/outreach projects.
Oversee all aspects of the publications process.
Manage online/electronic tools, including IHEP’s email distribution list.
Assist with the development of press releases, editorials, and marketing materials.
Provide staff support on speeches/presentations for public engagements, as needed.
Requirements: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred, and 2-3 years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or education policy. Experience in all three areas is a plus. Must have excellent writing and public speaking skills. Must be creative, organized, detailed-oriented, and a quick learner; experience with online information-sharing tools is a plus. Must be able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and be willing to work closely with key staff, including the IHEP president and communications consultant.

Graduate Research Position, Office of Research Development
This half-time (20hr/wk) position will assist with projects and initiatives in the Office of Research Development at George Mason University.
Responsibilities will include:
- Schedule and coordinate research related meetings; attend meetings and prepare meeting summaries.
- Assist with grant related workshops and seminars.
- Coordinate development of web materials for research related topics.
- Conduct research on funding opportunities. Assist in dissemination of funding information.
- Assist with the preparation for the Celebration of Achievement.
Qualifications:
Applicant should have strong written and verbal skills, good interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. Experience with Microsoft Office and ability to conduct research via internet are necessary. Web skills are useful, but not required. Awareness of grant submission processes is also useful.

Graduate Assistant, Office of Diversity Programs and Services
The ODPS Graduate Assistant (GA) is responsible for supporting ODPS’ mission to providing a wide range of diversity programs and services for students of diverse backgrounds including students of Middle Eastern heritage. He/She cultivates close working relationships with students, student organizations, faculty and staff in order to build community and promote the services of the department. As this is a position designated for a graduate student, the secondary purpose of the position is to provide the GA with an experiential learning opportunity to gain knowledge and skills.
